AC Brake and Clutch options

Rotor Clutch:

  • Enables fast stopping action by disengaging rotor inertia from gear train
  • Especially effective in stopping drag-type load at output shaft
  • Allows output shaft to be turned freely when motor is de-energized
  • Should only be mounted horizontally

Rotor Brake, (disk type):

  • Cork disks are forced together by rotor spring when motor is de-energized
  • Stops within 8-12 rotor revolutions, depending on load and inertia
  • Holds backup load at output shaft
  • Should only be mounted horizontally

Rotor Brake, (cone type):

  • Cone shaped cork is forced against a conical seat by a rotor spring when motor is de-energized
  • Stops within 4-6 rotor revolutions, depending on load and inertia
  • Holds backup load at output shaft
  • Should only be mounted horizontally

Rotor Brake, (magnetic positive action type):

  • Plastic pawl arm engages rotor
  • Stops within 1-3 rotor revolutions, depending on load and inertia
  • Holds heavy backup load at output shaft
  • Can be mounted in all positions
